Miss Polonia
Marta Mizgala was honored as Miss Polonia during our annual event, the Polish Festival on June 22, 2003 at Clinton Square in Syracuse, New York.
"I was born in Gdansk, Poland and came to America in 1987. Growing up, I have had the privilege of experiencing both worlds. Almost every summer I returned to Poland and Germany to visit family and friends. I enjoy traveling and have been very fortunate to visit Ireland, France, England and Wales. I am currently a senior at Bishop Ludden. In school, I took every possible art course offered. My interest in the fashion field has been evident since a young age. Last year, after some researching I found that Syracuse University offered a summer college program called Fashion and Textile design (FAS 200). I had the wonderful opportunity and privilege of taking this Fashion and Textile design course, which I absolutely loved.
"This upcoming year I will be attending FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology) in NYC, followed by a year in Florence, Italy. Upon completion, I plan on working for a 'fashion house' as a designer for about 3-4 years, in order to gain a better perspective and knowledge as to how the business works. After that, I plan on pursuing my ultimate goal, launching my own clothing line."
